Legal Tracking

What It Does

Legal Tracking helps you manage lawsuits, disputes, and legal cases tied to your communities. Track case status, deadlines, documents, and costs in one place so nothing falls through the cracks.

Who It's For

Property Management Companies using LotWize to manage HOA portfolios.

How to Use It

Click "Legal Tracking" in the sidebar, then "New Case." Enter the case name, community involved, type of case, and the attorney or firm handling it.

Step 2: Track Milestones

Add key dates: filing date, hearing dates, discovery deadlines, and expected resolution. The system sends reminders before each deadline so you stay ahead.

Step 3: Store Documents

Upload all case documents — complaints, motions, settlement agreements, and invoices. Tag each document so you can find it fast later.

Common Issues

Q: Can board members see legal cases? A: Only if you give them access. Legal cases are private by default and only visible to Admins and the staff you assign.

Q: How do I close a resolved case? A: Open the case and click "Mark as Resolved." The case moves to your archive but stays searchable.

Pro Tips

  • Link legal cases to the community's financial records so you can track legal costs against the budget.
  • Set a reminder 30 days before any statute of limitations deadline.
